The QNAP Turbo NAS is a cost-efficient and reliable storage to record the video files from the AXIS IP cameras with AXIS Camera Station VMS (video management software). This application note will guide you through the steps to set up the Turbo NAS and AXIS Camera Station VMS for video recording from the AXIS IP cameras.
Note:
AXIS Camera Station is the video management software (VMS) to monitor and record on single site or multi site up to 100 AXIS cameras.
You may also create the shares via the web-based management interface of the NAS.

To record the video recordings from the AXIS IP cameras to the Turbo NAS, first create the network shares or iSCSI drives on the NAS. Refer to: (link of the Storage Plug & Play app note)
Run AXIS Camera Station VMS. Connect to the AXIS Camera Station Server.
Click the Setup icon.
Click “Recording Storage”.
Add a Virtual Disk on AXIS Camera Station
click “Add Server Disk” on AXIS Camera Station.
Select the virtual disk on the Turbo NAS which has been previously mapped by QNAP Finder on the Windows PC. Click “OK”.
Add a Network Share on AXIS Camera Station
To specify a network share on the Turbo NAS as the recording station, click “Add Network Disk” on AXIS Camera Station.
Enter the path of the network share, e.g. \\qnapdata\axis, and then click “OK”.
Set up the Turbo NAS as the default recording storage for all cameras
To specify the Turbo NAS as the default recording storage for all AXIS IP cameras, click “Default Settings”.
Specify the disk location under “Storage settings” > “Record to disk”. Click “OK”.
Set up the Turbo NAS as the default recording storage for one camera
To specify the Turbo NAS as the default recording storage for an AXIS IP camera, select the camera from the list. Click “Edit”.
Specify the disk location under “Storage settings” > “Record to disk”. Click “OK”.
